Bedtime Breathwork

A simple breathing activity to help your child notice their belly moving as they breathe.

 

HOW LONG

10 slow, deep breaths before sleep. Keep breathing comfortable.

MAKE IT PLAYFUL

Place a favourite soft toy on their belly and watch it move with their breath. 

WHEN TO STOP

Stop if your child becomes dizzy, breathless, uncomfortable or distressed. 

What to Notice

  • Belly movement:
    Is your child's belly gently moving with their breath?
  • Shoulders:
    Are their shoulders staying relaxed?
  • Breathing:
    Does their breathing remain slow and comfortable?
  • Comfort:
    Does your child remain comfortable throughout the activity?

What to Practise

  • Belly movement:
    Notice how the belly moves with each breath.
  • Slow breathing:
    Practise slow, comfortable breaths.
  • Body awareness:
    Notice the movement of the body during breathing.
