Animal Sound Breathing

Bee Buzz & Silent Lion Roar

A playful breathing activity using animal sounds and pretend play to practise breathing out.

HOW LONG

3–5 comfortable rounds.
Allow normal breathing between rounds.

MAKE IT PLAYFUL

Try a sleepy bee, a gentle buzz, or a big silent lion roar.

WHEN TO STOP

Stop if your child becomes dizzy, breathless, uncomfortable or distressed.

What to Notice

  • Breathing:
Can your child notice the air moving as they make each sound?

Does their body remain relaxed rather than becoming tense or strained?
  • Engagement:
Are they comfortable joining in with the activity?
  • Comfort:
    Do they remain comfortable throughout?

What to Practise

  • Breathing out:
Practise a long, controlled exhale through playful sounds.
  • Breath awareness:
Notice the air moving as your child makes each sound.
  • Animal sounds:
Use pretend play to make the activity engaging.
